HR in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Capitalizing on Automation and Augmentation While Managing Risks
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is disrupting the workplace by delivering incredible capabilities. Organizations are seeing increasing operational efficiency and faster, more informed decision making. With that comes fear of displacement and the need for enhanced human intelligence. Is HR equipped to handle the challenges and legal risks of the AI disrupter?

Lindsay Hedrick, JD, labor and employment partner, Jones Day
Romelia Flores is one of IBM's top 500 technical executives, innovates with IBM's clients on Smarter Cities, Cognitive and Cloud. She holds 50 patents and has 25 patents pending. She is an alumnus of the University of Texas and was honored as a Baylor Honorary alumnus in 2014. In 2018, Romelia was elected in to the International Women?s Forum and was the first female inducted into the DFW TechTitan Hall of Fame.
Lindsay Hedrick is an experienced litigator, trial lawyer, and business counselor, advising clients in complex business lawsuits, employment litigation, and labor disputes. She has tried more than a dozen cases to verdict in state and federal courts and has arbitrated union grievances. Lindsay has experience in lawsuits involving the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), trade secrets and restrictive covenants, retaliation, and employment-related tort and contract claims. She routinely counsels employers on preventative measures, including reviewing policies and employee training programs, disciplinary actions, investigations, severance agreements, and workforce reductions.
She also regularly advises on and negotiates the labor and employment aspects of corporate transactions.
Lindsay has experience representing clients in qui tam whistleblower actions and government investigative matters involving the Department of Labor (DOL), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department of Justice (DOJ), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). She has represented companies in litigation involving alleged False Claims Act violations and related retaliation claims. Lindsay has extensive experience conducting internal investigations of alleged sexual harassment and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations.
