Description
"Using predictive analytics in sports"
Speaker: Edward Egros, Weekend Sports Anchor, Fox 4
Sports provides a multitude of interesting and fun opportunities to use quantitative tools to discover current trends and determine the outcomes of a game, series, tournament, etc. Join us for a discussion on how Edward uses predictive analytics across a variety of different sports to predict results of games and even player selection. He will:
- Discuss how to communicate analytics in an easy-to-understand way so any audience can appreciate the findings
- Explain how different media can be used to communicate specific storylines
- Use examples of forecasting in college football, basketball and golf
- Showcase how data visualization helps explain why the Dallas Cowboys won/lost certain games
About the speaker:
Edward Egros devotes his professional life to merging two fields. As the Weekend Sports Anchor with Fox 4, he covers a lot of different sports traditionally. But as a data journalist, he tries to forecast upcoming games and tournaments while also explaining what happened, using analytics. The key to this merger is maintaining both a journalistic approach everyone can understand while also enhancing the overall delivery through statistical analysis.
