Tech Titans STEM Team announces new name

The Tech Titans group responsible for inspiring students to choose Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics as a field of study held a planning session this summer to enhance its ability to connect with North Texas independent school districts. The team has previously been called the Tech Titans Talent team as it connects technology professionals with students to provide enriching STEM experiences. The team decided to change its name to the Tech Titans STEM team to better reflect its mission.

Tech Titans STEM has provided a variety of programs for local schools including panels of local technology professionals that are intended to inspire junior high and high school students. These professionals speak about why they chose STEM as a career, what has fueled their success, what challenges they have faced and a variety of other topics. Many of the panels target minorities and women as they are the groups least represented in STEM careers. Other events have included speed mentoring, company tours, teacher awards and STEM challenge contests.

“Our team consists of corporate volunteers that are passionate about inspiring kids and developing a solid pipeline of local talent to our North Texas community,” said Marvin Harris, STEM Team lead and Foundry Engineering Manager at Qorvo. “We hope to provide a spark that engages these students to be future employees and leaders in our tech community.”

The STEM Team is one of the many programs and projects of Tech Titans whose members represent companies, large and small, from throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area. In addition to the STEM Initiative, Tech Titans advocates technology's advancement in governmental arenas, connects people and inspires innovative ideas through its programs and special interest forums. Collectively, Tech Titans champions the North Texas tech community.
