Tech Titans hosts international study group

Tech Titans hosted an international group of education and business leaders on May 28 to provide information on how we promote the region’s tech industry with an emphasis on our STEM Initiative. The delegation spent three weeks in the U.S. exploring the topic of Education in the Digital Age. The trip was organized by the International Visitor Leadership Program under the direction of the U.S. Department of State and locally hosted by the DFW Council on World Affairs.

The IVLP is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program which brings emerging leaders from around the world to the U.S. to meet with professional counterparts to explore topics related to U.S. foreign policy. In addition to their professional meetings in Dallas/Fort Worth, the group traveled to Washington, DC, Providence, Rhode Island, and Louisville, Kentucky before traveling back to their home countries.

Fourteen international visitors participated in the study-trip. Participants were from Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Ghana, Hungary, Mexico, Nepal, People’s Republic of China, Poland, Tunisia, and Vietnam.

“We were delighted to tell the Tech Titans story and provide information on our programs especially the STEM Initiative,” said Tech Titans Executive Director Paul Bendel. “We also came away with a better understanding of the importance other countries place on education especially STEM.”

Bendel and STEM Director Reme Miah briefed the group on the organization’s history, mission and how the organization works with its member companies to promote and grow the North Texas tech industry. Most of the two-hour briefing focused on the Tech Titans STEM program.
