Area HS students start the summer with job shadowing
Sixteen students from area school districts got the opportunity to experience the daily work of engineers and technology professionals as part of the 2025 Tech Titans Job Shadowing program. Fujitsu, NTT Data, Respec, and Qorvo hosted the students for three days during the last week of June to highlight the normal workday of a technology professional.
Throughout the week, students observed team meetings, participated in hands-on activities, toured facilities, and engaged in one-on-one discussions with engineers, designers, and product managers. They gained exposure to a wide range of career paths, from semiconductor manufacturing and product design to software engineering and IT services, while also learning about company cultures, workplace expectations, and problem-solving approaches across industries.
The goal of the Job Shadowing program is to provide a unique opportunity for high school students to gain valuable insights into different career paths and company cultures by shadowing professionals and observing their day-to-day responsibilities. Many students shared that the experience opened their eyes to new career possibilities and helped them connect classroom learning to real-world applications.
The Job Shadowing program is part of the Tech Titans STEM Initiative, which strives to empower students to discover the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, and math. The STEM Initiative consists of a comprehensive suite of programs, including mentorship, virtual events, engaging discussions, interactive challenges, and company tours that have inspired over 20,000 middle and high school students across North Texas over the past ten years.
By fostering relationships between students and experienced STEM professionals, the Tech Titans STEM team creates a vibrant learning environment where young minds can explore real-world applications, ask questions, and envision themselves as future innovators. The Tech Titans initiatives extend beyond sparking interest by actively addressing the STEM gender gap, providing targeted support and opportunities for young women to thrive in these fields.
Through this long-standing commitment to education and mentorship, Tech Titans is actively building a more diverse and inclusive STEM workforce, ensuring that North Texas remains a hub of innovation for years to come. Join us in our mission to cultivate the next generation of tech leaders and create a brighter future for our community.
The Job Shadowing program is the final STEM-related event for the 2024–25 school year. The STEM Team will begin planning for the 2025–26 school year in late July.
