“Lack of access to technology.” “Equitable access to technology.” “Adequate accommodation through technology.” Phrases like these speak for themselves when highlighting why many in the underserved communities across the country lack the tools to simply log onto the Internet. It may be due to the lack of infrastructure or equipment, but more importantly, it may just be an acceptance of the way things are. If we are to justifiably address the needs of the underserved, then we, as a society must boldly resist the status quo. These CIOs from the public and private sectors across the U.S. are leaders who have challenged the system and in turn, positioned technology to better enable the communities they serve better.
