One of the unique differences delivered through the promise of 5G is the low latency that is pushing consumers and businesses to move intelligence and computing resources to the edge of the network. The business use cases being considered by some industries will employ huge amounts of data though this change. As a result, the driving force for successful employment will be machine learning and artificial intelligence. This expert panel will discuss how taking 5G to the edge will transform business as we know it and help us become better prepared for Industry 4.0.
Mike Brander is currently the Managing Director for a team of presales engineers and emerging technology consultants. His team consists of both a national field team as well as a center based team of technical professionals. They are responsible for a variety of presales support functions from consultations for new and existing technologies to implementations of private networks or enterprise messaging gateways. This team has a deep technical expertise on technologies and solutions available today as well as the evolution of them. Some of the areas of focus are around core network solutions, security, mobile unified communications and IoT PaaS solutions. Mike has worked with Verizon and its predecessor companies for 27 years and has held numerous positions in his tenure. Previously, Mike has led teams supporting enterprise sales for both the wireless and wireline business units. He has also led wireless data solutions teams as well. In his years of experience he has served the finance, insurance, media, transportation, professional services and public safety sectors providing Mike with a broad knowledge base needed to solve complex business challenges.
Simon Crosby, Ph.D., is the CTO at SWIM.AI, an edge-based software firm that executes real-time analytics and machine learning for IoT. Crosby brings an established record of technology industry success. Prior to SWIM.AI, he was co-founder and CTO of Bromium, a security technology company. At Bromium, Crosby built a highly secure virtualized system to protect applications. Earlier on he was the co-founder and CTO of XenSource, before its acquisition by Citrix, and later served as the CTO of the Virtualization and Management Division at Citrix. Previous to Citrix, Crosby was a principal engineer at Intel and also the founder of CPlane, a network-optimization software vendor. Crosby has been a tenured faculty member at the University of Cambridge.

Kashif Shakil
Babar Bhatti is a visionary technology entrepreneur, analytics and AI expert. He is a frequent speaker and presenter on the topic of AI and digital disruption. He has recently spoken at Harvard Business School Club of DFW, Financial Executives International, UTD School of Business and at many AI conferences and Hackathons. Formerly, Babar was the co-founder and CEO of Mutual Mind, a social media analytics company with clients from Fortune 500 companies. He holds dual MS from MIT in Engineering and Technology and Policy. He is co-founder of Dallas AI, a meetup of about 1600 members focused on AI and Deep Learning.
