Description
Satellite IoT: Nanosats for Worldwide Rural IoT Connectivity
Featuring Ed Hightower
Providing IoT connectivity to remote and rural areas around the world... and doing so at an economical cost has been a challenge... until now.
Nearly 30 companies are launching (or plan to soon launch) nanosatellites into low earth orbits (LEOs) that will provide worldwide coverage for IoT solutions... and do so at an economical cost.
These sats are small in size but huge in the technological capabilities. They are aimed at supporting short messages and applications tolerant of latency... i.e. perfect for many IoT applications.
If you are challenged with creating IoT solutions that must work in remote/rural areas (or you're just curious). Come join us on September 26th and learn more about nanosatellites, the applications they're best suited for and the companies that are launching them.
About the speaker:
Ed Hightower is a successful technologist, consultant, sales engineer, public speaker and business development executive with over 25 years of experience and expertise in wireless, machine-to-machine, Internet of Things (IoT), Low Power Wide Area Networks, cellular IoT, nanosatellites in LEO, artificial intelligence (AI) both in the cloud and at the edge, and IoT applications.
He's led various technology networking groups in North Texas (Tech Titans, IEEE MetroCon, N. TX IOT SIG Breakfasts, etc.) for over 20 years. Knowledgeable of providers and the expertise available in the IoT ecosystem from end devices/sensors, to connectivity providers/networks, to backend computer system/applications.
