Blockchain and the legal landscape

James Cox, has more than two decades of legal experience and a background in computer science. Jim Cox has successfully advised clients on their most challenging and difficult matters in litigation and arbitration, including complex technology-related disputes, international disputes, class actions, and disputes involving corporate acquisitions. Jim is now applying that experience to the innovative fields of cryptocurrency and the blockchain, advising clients on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other virtual currencies, as well as on broader applications of blockchain technology.
Lacey Shrum is an attorney and entrepreneur. Her primary focus is on multiple projects implementing a traditional legal document into smart contracts. She is a member of a hackathon team using blockchain to solve common inefficiencies in the ranching and agriculture industry. In a legal capacity, she advises emerging blockchain companies with business formation, fundraising, and risks particular to this new technology.
Zachary Lynde is the Chief Financial Officer at Factom Inc, the leading blockchain for enterprise data. Throughout his career, he has worked with several companies to advise on complex restructurings, globalization, and a range of capital transactions in both high-tech and conventional industries. Zachary currently serves as an advisor to two different international cryptocurrency companies, treasurer/secretary for a company innovating computer Vision and AI globally for enterprises, and Ataq Online, an eSports Gaming company. He is also a member of the Accounting Blockchain Coalition. Zachary is a regularly requested speaker for blockchain accounting, and has addressed the China Blockchain Summit on the topic of Improving Global Liquidity Using Factom as well as a panel on Blockchain Auditability at the Annual Blockchain Coalition Meeting.
Mark Rasmussen, co-chair of the Tech Titans Blockchain Forum, is a seasoned litigator and investigator with more than a dozen years of experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation, securities litigation, regulatory and internal investigations, and bankruptcy litigation. He also advises clients on legal compliance related to cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings (ICOs), smart contracts, and blockchain technology and was recently appointed by Chief Judge Barbara Lynn, of the Northern District of Texas, to be the first ever receiver in an SEC enforcement action involving an ICO promoter. In addition, Mark is co-editor of a forthcoming book entitled Blockchain for Business Lawyers and is a frequent speaker on legal issues related to blockchain technology.
The Program will assume the audience has basic to medium understanding of DLT concepts.
