Big data unlocks virtually limitless possibilities for organizations to make more informed decisions. At the same time, many companies still rely upon big data as a rearview mirror of sorts – helpful in understanding historical trends yet still largely untapped for predicting future outcomes. For those able to conquer the latter, they face perhaps even bigger decisions in how data can and should be used effectively, without unintentionally crossing into an ethical gray zone. In this talk, Allison will share perspectives of larger moral and ethical considerations for harnessing the power of big data without rendering customers and/or employees powerless in the process.
