The Chamber will host a special roundtable discussion with U.S. Congressman Colin Allred and U.S. Congressman Van Taylor covering federal legislative issues.
Colin Allred was born and raised in North Dallas, he went to Hillcrest High school, earning a football scholarship to Baylor University, and later earned his law degree from Berkeley. Colin served in the General Counsel’s office at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He then returned home to Dallas and decided to run for office. As a Representative, Colin’s top priorities in Congress are working to lower costs of health care, protect Medicare and Social Security, and to create an economy that works for everyone while expanding access to vocational schools and lowering the cost of college. He believes Congress must find common ground to rebuild aging infrastructure, pass immigration reform and veteran care.
Van Taylor went to St. Paul's high school in New Hampshire then gained his bachelors from Harvard. After graduating, Van joined United States Marine Corps while earning his MBA from Harvard. Van and his wife, Anne, married after his return from Iraq and are proud parents of, Laura, Helen, and Susie. Van Taylor represented District 66 in the Texas House of Representatives for five years. Taylor then served in the senate from 2015-2019. In 2019, Van Taylor was sworn in as a Member of the United States Congress, representing Third Congressional District. Representative Taylor served on the House Committee on Homeland Security and on Education and Labor committees. Congressman Taylor was appointed to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services in January 2020.
