SUMMARY:*Cancelled--DARS Conference\, Cyber Law Consortium\, March 19-20
DESCRIPTION:The Cyber Law Consortium is sponsoring a defense industry conference on the topic of DFARS cybersecurity compliance March 19 20\, 2020\, in Dallas\, Texas. Starting in September\, 2020\, the DoD will require DoD prime contractors and all of their Sub-Tier vendors to provide proof of compliance by a third party certification through the CMMC Accreditation Body.\n\nPreviously\, self-assessment statements by DoD vendors were acceptable to the DoD\; but that privilege is soon coming to an end. Effective June 1\, 2020 all DoD primes and their Sub-Tier vendors may have to submit to a rigorous cybersecurity audit performed by a CMMC approved Auditor\, which will then submit the audit results to a new third-party Regional Certification Center for final approval or disapproval.\n\nThe purpose of the conference will be to better understand the current DFARS requirements\, risks of non-compliance\, emerging requirements under CMMC\, and address persistent barriers to compliance for large\, small\, and mid-sized businesses\, and their Sub-Tier suppliers. WMs. Katie Arrington\, our keynote speaker\, leads the effort within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment\, OUSD(A&S) as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition ASD(A) for Cyber.
